Passenger airlifted to hospital after crash

A MAN had to be airlifted to hospital today after a head-on collision in Kingsclere.

A red Mazda 323 and a black Vauxhall Corsa were in collision shortly before 8am on the B3051 Little Knowl Hill.

Police closed the road while the female driver of the Mazda and her male passenger were freed by firefighters.

The man was airlifted to Basingstoke hospital with serious injuries. However, they were not thought to be life-threatening.

The male driver of the Corsa suffered minor injuries.

One pump from Basingstoke fire station, one from Overton and a fire officer from Basingstoke attended the scene, along with police and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

The road was reopened at 10.20am.

The Highways Agency was also called because there was damage to the road.
